Why volunteer
A role at the IMA to suit everyone.
We rely on our volunteers to help us carry out the important work we do in bringing communities together. From the friendly faces that greet you at reception, to our enthusiastic tour guides and creative art workshop assistants, there is a role for everyone, irrespective of cultural or religious background.
By volunteering you will have the opportunity to

- 04Participate in professional development workshops hosted by esteemed speakers
- 05Apply for the IMA Patron’s Fund or Australian Muslim Academic Scholarship Program (upon meeting criteria)

In their words.
I love talking about our faith and cultures with people who are genuinely interested in understanding more about Islam.
I enjoy helping to deliver school holiday workshops for kids, it’s a lot of fun watching kids find an outlet for their creativity.
I’ve become more confident in talking to people since I started as a tour guide at the Islamic Museum, and I’m really passionate about being part of an organisation that helps bring about cross cultural understanding in the community.

More than one role
Volunteers can perform more than one role.

At least 6 months
These are ongoing casual roles that require a commitment of at least 6 months. All volunteers report to the IMA’s Volunteer Coordinator.

Working with Children Check
You must hold, or be willing to apply for, a Volunteer Working with Children Card. School Holiday program volunteers must hold an employee Working with Children Card.
